Funding for the extension of Northaven Trail west is in the 2012 Dallas Bond Program. The extension east to White Rock Creek Trail is already funded by Dallas County.

The distance covered will greatly depend on the construction market when the city advertises for bids. Trails cost about $1.1 million per mile to construct so this amount will cover about 1.5 miles, hopefully as far as Midway. Dallas County is interested in matching the funding and, if funding is secured, the extension could go as far as Marsh. The bonds to fund this extension will not be sold for a few years because other projects are taking priority (flood control).
