Murals on the Northaven Trail Bridge

To better connect the brand new Northaven Trail pedestrian bridge over Central Expressway with the trail, the Friends of Northaven Trail commissioned Chera Creative to paint the eight pillars on the west side of the expressway. This project will introduce trail visitors and neighbors to some of the beautiful flora and fauna they will see on the trail: plants indigenous to our area, and the pollinators which depend on them for survival. Whether you’re riding your bike, walking your dog, or just driving by, these murals offer an opportunity to connect with art in an unconventional space. The artwork has greatly improve the aesthetics of the bridge and has been a wonderful addition to the City of Dallas and to the approximately 250,000 cars pass that pass bridge every day!

Concept Drawing (actual mural may be different)

The murals cover all eight columns on the western ramp up to the Northaven Trail Bridge. These pillars vary in heights from 4’ to 17’ 5”.

Local experts helped us select a different native plant for each pillar, and this plant has been paired with its natural pollinator. You can read more about this pairing here.
